In this inquiry, students will read about Sati (also known as suttee) the practice among some Hindu communities whereby a widowed woman commits suicide, often by burning herself on her husbands funeral pyre or by burying herself alive in his grave. Students will look at primary images as well excerpts from first-hand accounts of the practice. Included with this item is: the lesson plan, a modified version of said lesson plan at the middle school level, a lesson specific powerpoint, as well as two teacher resources which help answer each lesson plan.
