本课引导学生探究“教育是否可能成为文化灭绝?”这一引人深思的问题,通过考察美国在菲律宾的帝国主义行径以及美国白人女性在通过教育进行文化改造中所扮演的角色,来展开讨论。学生将运用一手资料、课堂讨论和探究式活动,分析多元视角,评估证据,并构建自己的论点。本课融合了多种学习策略,最终以辩论、研讨会或书面论证等评估性或创造性任务作为总结,以加深学生对历史的理解。
