About

Embark on a transformative journey with "Women and the Silk Road," a self-paced program designed to illuminate the pivotal yet often overlooked roles women played along one of history’s most influential trade routes. This course invites educators, students, and history enthusiasts to explore the dynamic intersections of gender, culture, commerce, and power that shaped societies from the Mediterranean to East Asia. Through inquiry-based learning, participants will uncover stories of female merchants, diplomats, artisans, and travelers who bridged continents and cultures, challenging traditional narratives that have long marginalized women’s contributions.
