In this inquiry, students will read numerous primary sources about Börte and determine her role in the rise of the Mongol Empire. This inquiry utilizes excerpts from the Secret History of the Mongols, which is the oldest primary source from the Mongol Empire, the author is unknown. This inquiry also has students analyze the work of Ala Ad Din Ata Malik Juvaini, a Mongolian state official from the 13th century. Included with this item is: the lesson plan, a modified version of said lesson plan at the middle school level, a lesson specific powerpoint, as well as two teacher resources which help answer each lesson plan.
