Students compare the lives of two women: Harriet E. Wilson an indentured servant woman born to a black father and white mother in New Hampshire and Harriet Jacobs, a well known escaped slave who settled in Pennsylvania and became very active in the abolition movement. Both women were published writers, unique for women of their time and position.
