Did the Industrial Revolution change women’s work?
In this inquiry, students are tasked with looking at the continuities and divergences in what was considered women’s work over the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries and draw their own conclusions on who was doing what work and how it developed and changed over time. This inquiry utilizes newspapers, excerpts, and articles which discuss the impact of race on which women were impacted by the Industrial Revolution and how. Included with this item is: the lesson plan, a modified version of said lesson plan at the middle school level, a lesson specific powerpoint, as well as two teacher resources which help answer each lesson plan.
